Athens – Update on those arrested during the protests against Alexis Grigoropoulos’s murder on 6th of December


On December 6, it was 8 years ago that cops murdered Alexis Grigoropoulos in Athens, Greece. In Several Greek cities there were fierce batlles between riot cops and mainly anarchist activists. Here is an update about the people that got arrested on December 6, 2016.

Update from the courts of Evelpidon, where those prosecuted appeared
before the interrogator and prosecutor for felony charges. Three of
those arrested were sent to pre-trial detention, one is in a separate
indictment, loaded with more charges. And the other is an immigrant.
The case of an under age arrestee was separated also.

The other five persecuted for felonies we released on bail and have to
appear at the police station of their neighborhood three times a month.
The trial of those persecuted for misdemeanors has been postponed.

As for the solidarity gathering at the court, from 9am many of the solidarity protesters were present and remained until 6pm, when the 5 were released. Solidarity chants were
shouted during the gathering.
