#Repression After #Shutdown #Milo In #Berkeley: ARC Statement
Don’t Talk to the Police: ARC Statement on UC Berkeley Police Investigation of Protesters:
ARC is aware that UC Berkeley PD is circulating images of individuals who they claim are associated with the Berkeley anti-Milo protest on February 1. They are actively seeking information about these individuals, and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
We want to remind everyone NOT to assist UC Berkeley PD in their investigation, EVEN IF it seems like the information you give is harmless. Remember that even minor information, like identifying a “witness,” can be used to increase surveillance of activist communities. Police use this kind of information to map activist networks and harass them. In the current political climate, the state is looking for ways to clamp down on dissent and resistance. Let’s not help them do that.
Remember that you have NO LEGAL OBLIGATION to talk to police or FBI if contacted about the protest. They may try to make you feel intimidated, but you ALWAYS have the right to remain silent. If you are contacted by phone, email, letter, or in person, either ignore the correspondence, or tell the officer that you decline to speak with them.
If you are contacted, immediately call the National Lawyers Guild at 415-285-1041 so that they can give you legal advice, and also so that they can be aware of police/FBI activities.
Finally: DO NOT post or circulate the UC Berkeley PD webpage with pictures of individuals. We do not want to signal boost anything that will increase surveillance and targeting of our communities.
Has the Kill the Bill campaign come roaring back to life? There were over twenty demonstrations around the country, some with just a few dozen but with thousands coming onto the

The Turkish Cypriots have been protesting against Ankara over the past decade and the tensions between Ankara and Nicosia have increased due to the influx of settlers and Turkey’s policies towards northern Cyprus. The hopes for Turkish Cypriots to be reunited with Greek Cypriots also have been dashed. Today, Ankara’s waning enthusiasm for EU membership

I’ve been thinking recently about the various themes that I’ve written about since starting this regular column for Freedom in 2016. I try really hard not to repeat myself too much but history has a way of making that pretty tough. These are the themes I think will recur time and again in 2022. (In)competence
When we speak of liberating mother earth, we speak of returning to our ancestral territories. If our ancestors lived here, if their descendants now live cramped in the mountains, it is only fair that we recuperate this land.

Author’s Note: A number of years ago I chanced upon a pamphlet, The Federación Anarquista Uruguaya; Crisis, Armed Struggle and Dictatorship 1967-1985, compiled by Paul Sharkey, at an anarchist bookfair. The contents were fairly interesting. Presented was an anecdotal, inconsistent history of an anarchist organisation in a small South American country. By all accounts the […]
