#Repression After #Shutdown #Milo In #Berkeley: ARC Statement
Don’t Talk to the Police: ARC Statement on UC Berkeley Police Investigation of Protesters:
ARC is aware that UC Berkeley PD is circulating images of individuals who they claim are associated with the Berkeley anti-Milo protest on February 1. They are actively seeking information about these individuals, and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
We want to remind everyone NOT to assist UC Berkeley PD in their investigation, EVEN IF it seems like the information you give is harmless. Remember that even minor information, like identifying a “witness,” can be used to increase surveillance of activist communities. Police use this kind of information to map activist networks and harass them. In the current political climate, the state is looking for ways to clamp down on dissent and resistance. Let’s not help them do that.
Remember that you have NO LEGAL OBLIGATION to talk to police or FBI if contacted about the protest. They may try to make you feel intimidated, but you ALWAYS have the right to remain silent. If you are contacted by phone, email, letter, or in person, either ignore the correspondence, or tell the officer that you decline to speak with them.
If you are contacted, immediately call the National Lawyers Guild at 415-285-1041 so that they can give you legal advice, and also so that they can be aware of police/FBI activities.
Finally: DO NOT post or circulate the UC Berkeley PD webpage with pictures of individuals. We do not want to signal boost anything that will increase surveillance and targeting of our communities.
Pramen contacted a comrade, the anarchist Vlad M. after 30 days he spent in prison and talked about the detention and interesting people who you can meet at the administrative arrest. We didn’t forget to ask him about his hunger strike, as well as the situation with the coronavirus in prison. Pramen: Vlad, hello and
This is Part Two of the text Freedom published last week. ‘Much has been written about the Moors in various sections of the Left-Wing Press in this and other countries. The Conservative government is planning to introduce major changes to public order legislation to crack down on protests, under a new “Protection of the Police and Public Bill” planned for 2021. In September, Home Secretary Priti Patel denounced environmental campaigners Extinction Rebellion as “so-called eco-crusaders turned criminals” at the Police Superintendents’ Association conference and, at

A letter from the Lord Chancellor (which we have) says that the High Court bailiffs (and we understand County Court too but they’re less of an issue) have agreed not to carry out evictions from residential properties in Tiers 2 and 3 areas, and everywhere from December 11 to January 11. For some time now, we had also understood that we would have to deal with the ecological crisis. Rather than gently waiting for the next state of emergency, what we are trying to build […]

Where have you gone? Last January there were so many of you. Of us! In the streets. Shutting down bridges, ports, highways, railways, centres of capital, fuel terminals, and even storming TC Energy facilities. We were rushing office buildings, hanging banners, harassing politicians, police, courts and more. Informing, engaging, inciting. Undoubtedly meeting late into the […]
TC Energy recently sold 65% of their 100% stake in their Coastal Gas Link Project. But does it mean anything? Is the project struggling? Is TC Energy? Is there a chance this project will just fall by the wayside? After reading too many industry news sites and pompous press releases, interviews and share reports I […]
Working class Hamilton families breathed a collective sigh of relief Monday afternoon, when the Province announced they were killing the Light Rail Transit (LRT) project. This winter, we want to reignite some of that energy. We need to put pressure on the city and the police again because all of their attempts at dialogue can only be hollow while queers still face jail time for defending themselves and others at Pride. Read More ...
In response to the industrial, capitalist model of food production that has decimated rural lifeways and our mother earth, social movements around the world have identified agroecology as their alternative proposal for rural development. Grounded in peasant and indigenous knowledges, struggles for food sovereignty and agrarian reform, agroecology is understood by social movements as “a […]
The abrupt replacement of president Martin Vizcarra by the president of congress Manuel Merino has ignited a week of protests in multiple cities in Peru, including Lima. Peruvians are outraged at what can best be described as a parliamentary coup, orchestrated by members of congress whose quick resignation only came after two young protesters lost […]

It’s no secret that anarchists detest elections, but most who embrace revolutionary socialism (of which anarchism is a branch) tend to possess a simplistic understanding of how to position themselves in relation to the spectacle of these events. In acts of solidarity, passing workers in cars and trucks blare horns and raise fists from cockpit windows. Steadfast is their commitment to seeing their demands met: a worker reveals to us that it is now day 8 of continuous striking. Deep in the industrial heartland of Sydney, workers stand along the opening gates to […]

While Trumpism has networks of support amongst far-right white nationalists which Biden lacks, there is no doubt that the Democrats and Republicans are on a unity ticket when it comes to the agenda of deportation, privatisation, and war that creates the far right. The nature of this election cycle was seeded decades ago by the […]
Radical history is littered with unknown people, anonymous figures who nevertheless – in their own modest ways – contributed to the development of socialism and the workers’ movement generally. Some were very important, others less so. An example of a man that falls into the latter category is William Edwell Harcourt. Virtually nothing has been […]
First published in Coils of The Serpent: ISSUE 6 (2020): CONTROL SOCIETIES II: PHILOSOPHY, POLITICS, ECONOMY In his discussion of the transition from the cinema of the movement-image to the cinema of the time-image, Deleuze famously makes way for the traumatic intrusion of history. This transition, he writes, is not purely internal to cinema, but […]
