About 200 riot cops and a SEK squat evicted the squatted old Teppich Fabrik in Berlin earlier today.

After the squatters of the old Teppich Fabrik (carpet factory) had to live under siege for weeks, the building was evicted by 200 riot cops and a SEK squat earlier today. Last Friday there was a solidarity gathering in front of the building, but once again the state ordered their lackeys to pave the way for another gentrification project in Berlin’s Friedrichshain district.
As the cops didn’t allow most people to enter the building in the past weeks, there was only a very small group of people left in the building. According to media reports, the cops stated that they didn’t find anybody in the building during the eviction. But that doesn’t necessarily there will be no resistance.
The now evicted squatters tweeted shortly after the eviction that Friedel 54 in Berlin wrote a solidarity statement and reminded people that today is “Day X” and “every eviction has its price!”

In another tweet the squaters wrote “Day X – The struggle continues. F*ck the cops. Berlin has many beautiful and first and foremost empty houses!!!”
