NoG20 Police Violence Projected on German Consulate in Amsterdam

Activists projected the excessive police violence during the NoG20 protests on the German consulate in Amsterdam last night. Neighbours and people passing by were shown a video of theescalating tactics of German police in Hamburg. Meanwhile repression is growing in Germany. After the ban on Linksunten on August 25, authorities deployed SEK squads with automatic riffles against a peaceful antifa demonstration in Wurzen, Germany yesterday.

To put the NoG20 clashes in a broader context, its important to know that there already was an orgy of police violence during the days before one stone was thrown.

This video was projected on the German consulate last night

The real violent actors, apart from oppressors like Erdogan who were flown in and treated with all regards, were the police, the chief of police operations, Dudde, and mayor Olaf Scholz.

In political show trials comrades like Peike were convicted although there was no real evidence. The testifying cops were even talking about a person with dreadlocks throwing two bottles at one of the cops. But Peike has no dreadlocks. On January 31 people took the streets in Amsterdam to demand the release of all NoG20 prisoners.

The repression during the NoG20 protests in Hamburg have set a new mark in repression by the German state. On the night of July 7, 2017 German SEK and Austrian Wegner special police forces where deployed against NoG20 protesters. They were equipped with automatic riffles and had green light to shoot with live ammo. It was the first time that these special police forces were deployed against protesters.

After the NoG20 protests the deployment of SEK police forces against protesters seems to be “normalized” in Germany. On August 15 SEK cops were active during the eviction of the Teppich Fabrik in Berlin and yesterday SEK cops were deployed against a peaceful antifa demonstration in Wurzen.

Apart from further militarization of the police, the federal interior minister, Thomas de Maizière, also banned Linksunten Indymedia and ordered the cops to raid several apartments and the autonomous KTS social center in Freiburg, Germany on August 25. On September 1 the CDU and CSU state interior ministers announced that they will no longer tolerate projects like the Rote Flora and Rigaer in Germany. They also plan to change assembly laws which would make it a crime if peaceful protesters are present at a demonstration where others commit acts of violence.

Today there will be a demonstration in Hamburg to demand the release of all NoG20 prisoners. On September 9 there will be an international demonstration against the ban on Linksunten Indymedia in Freiburg.
