From Charlottesville to Athens: #Clashes 4 years after Pavlos Fyssaswas murdered by fascists

In several Greek cities there were protests and clashes in the past days to commorate Pavlos Fyssas, who was murdered by Golden Dawn fascists on September 18, 2013.

Perseus999 wrote on their YouTube channel: “For Pavlos Fyssas, Heather Heyer, Clement Meric, Carlos Palomino, Guillem Agulló, Sonia, Roger and to all the fallen antifascist comrades). On September 16, 2017 thousands of antifascists in Athens, Greece marched towards the headquarters of the “Golden Dawn” fascist party, four years after the murder of antifascist rapper Pavlos Fyssas by approximately 40 neonazi members of Golden Dawn, on September 18, 2013 in the Keratsini area of Athens.

When the antifascist protest in memory of Pavlos Fyssas reached the Golden Dawn HQ people were faced by dozens of riot policemen protecting the neonazi offices, and a “wall” of riot police buses blocking any access nearby. The protection of the murderers’s offices -that remain free during their judicial trial that has been going on for almost three years now, contrary to the majority of political prisoners that remain in prison for years until finally their trial takes place- ignited the people’s sentiment and escalated the protest into a riot.”

Athens Indymedia published a story about a 16 year old boy who tried to escape after a march to commemorate Pavlos Fyssas on September 16 (Black Cat translated the Athens Indymedia report for is): “After a march to commemorate Pavlos Fyssas, who was killed by members of the fascist Golden Dawn party and the subsequent attacks against cops, a 16 year-old boy, who refused to remain captive by the forces of repression attempted to gain his freedom.

Following his arrival at the Police HQ in Attica he managed to get away from the cops but during that time he got seriously injured by an incoming vehicle and is currently hoapitalized under guard. Against state violence, the only way to survive is through our disobedience and struggle. No prosecution against the arrestees at the antifascist march.”

On September 17 and especially on September 18 there were more protests to commemorate Pavlos Fyssas. In Patras and Thessaloniki clashes broke out.
