RWE Started Uprooting #Hambacher Forest With the Help of Police Violence – Support Needed!
As expected energy giant RWE started with uprooting the next section of the Hambacher forest today. Riot cops secured the arean shoving people from a hill and using pepper spray. The activists in the Hambacher forest (near Cologne, Germany) continue to resist and are calling for support and ask people to come to the forest.
In the early morning hours a police helicopter was already circling above the Hambacher forest. The first sign of things to come. On 06:30am 18 police vans were spotted on their way from Morschenich to the forest. At the same time 2 heavy transporters reached the eastern part of the securoad (used to be L276).

At 08:00am the cops started to check cars at the crossing between the Werkstraße and the road that goes to Morschenich. More cop cars were spotted at the securitystreet, two on the fields in front of the meadow and one at the end of the forest. The lackeys in uniform were assisting RWE once again, so the energy giant could continue their environmental destruction.
At 09:00am the cutting of the first 300 year old trees started at the north-eastern direction from the old highway, protected by cops and by RWE security. Journalists were forced to leave the area. About 17 minutes later the first trees were transported out of the area under police protection.

At 10:39am the green finger from Ende Gelände activists arrived in Gallien. They tried to block the access road but failed. Later the green finger tried to blocked the Security street. Cops issued the first order to leave the street, before they would start to get violent. Three people got attacked with pepper spray. Three other people managed to get where the deforestation is done.
Several people managed to slip through police lines into the uprooting area of the forest. RWE had to stop and the sound of chain saws stopped for some time. At the end of the day, actions like these extend the life of the trees at least a little bit and makes the costs of the environmental destruction by RWE and the German state higher and higher.

Other activists blocked the old drive-up to the highway. At 02:05pm the blockade was given up and people retreated in the forest. Many people are preparing in the forest for the things to come. Tomorrow, the uprooting and the resistance against it will continue.
#Germany #Hambacher Cops ban parking lot behind Buir train station from tomorrow morning 07:00am. The rumour mill says more cops will come tomorrow and they need the parking lot for their vans. Vome to the forest & support! #HambiBleibt #HambacherForst

Come to Hambacher forest and/or organise solidarity actions in your city against uprooting the Hambache forest and against RWE. The rumour mill says more and more people are terminating their contracts with RWE. Let them feel the heat and make them pay!

Our equipment suffered a lot from traveling around Europe for our independent on the ground reports. We need new microphones for better audio on our video reports, a new laptop (the last one crashed in Catalonia) and have a lot of expenses for our on the ground reporting.
We want to stay independent and want to expand our work with on the ground reporting across Europe and even beyond. Therefore we need your support. Help maintain our site and continue our work. Your donations make our work possible.
We did and do a lot of on the ground reporting in Europe. On December 17 we will travel to Lesvos (Greece) and in January we will travel from Lesvos to Athens to report on the ground.
Each donation helps, also the small ones. Thank you for supporting our project.
