Nikos Maziotis Attacked at Korydallos Prison
Nikos Maziotis was assaulted by another prisoner while recovering from his recent hunger strike. The assault left him with broken ribs and head injuries.
The attack against Nikos Maziotis happened inside his cell. Approximately ten prisoners took part in the attack, out of which 2-3 were more aggressive than the rest.
Nikos Maziotis was mainly hit on his head and his ribs and was stabbed in his stomach. Despite the cowardly attack by ten prisoners and the bodily exhaustion following 36 days of hunger strike, he managed to resist.
The murderous attack against the comrade was stopped by Turkish and Kurdish prisoners who interfered and informed those in solidarity outside of the prison about the attack. Nikos Maziotis is now hospitalized due to his multiple injuries at the Korydallos Prison Hospital and we are expecting to hear updates on his condition.
Our equipment suffered a lot from traveling around Europe for our independent on the ground reports. We need new microphones for better audio on our video reports, a new laptop (the last one crashed in Catalonia) and have a lot of expenses for our on the ground reporting.
We want to stay independent and want to expand our work with on the ground reporting across Europe and even beyond. Therefore we need your support. Help maintain our site and continue our work. Your donations make our work possible.
We did and do a lot of on the ground reporting in Europe. On December 17 we will travel to Lesvos (Greece) and in January we will travel from Lesvos to Athens to report on the ground.
Each donation helps, also the small ones. Thank you for supporting the Enough is Enough project.
