Athens: Cops Evicted Squats in Exarchia and Koukaki this Morning
At 06:15am police forces invaded the Gare squat and about 10 minutes later they also invaded Zaimi and Matrozou. Gare was already evicted on November 26, 2017, but re-squatted on the second of December. We don’t have exact numbers yet, but from what we know 10 people were arrested and from 10:30am (local time) there will be a solidarity gathering (ΣΥΓΚΕΝΤΡΩΣΗ ΑΛΛΗΛΕΓΓΥΗΣ στη ΓΑΔΑ Δευτέρα 12 Μάρτη 10:30πμ).

It looks like the police operation is an act of revenge against the antifa demo in Thessaloniki on Saturday (Tweet below). At least two of the evicted squats were involved in the demo in Thessaloniki.

The Self-Defense Structure of Occupations and Emergency Housing Facility published a statement on Athens Indymedia, here is the full statement (edited Google translation, we hope to receive better translations soon):
Today, Monday, March 12 at 6am, a repressive operation against squats took place in Athens. First there was an invasion of GARE, then of Matozo 54 of the Squad and the Koukakion Battalion, followed by the invasion of Zaimi. Outside of Matrozo two more comrades were struck, while in Exarcheia the state-run killers thrashed solidarity and threatened the neighborhood.
This extensive repressive operation is a desperate attempt by the state and, in particular, the nationalist left to respond to the massive and militant trans-fascist internationalist-anti-fascist mobilization of solidarity with the occupation of Libertatia in Thessaloniki.
We will not leave anyone alone in the fight. We do not leave a measure of land in state-capitalist looting.
