#RefugeesGR #Lesvos: Italian documentary crew records incident of abuse against senior refugee in Greece

Shame… that is the only emotion evoked when watching the footage of a documentary produced by the state funded national television in Italy, regarding the conditions of detention in Moria camp in Greece.

Originally published by Gazzetta. Translated by Black Cat.

Note: Enough is Enough is not organizing any of these events, we are publishing this text for people across the US and Europe to be able to see what is going on and for documentation only.

Apart from the deplorable conditions in terms of hygeine, meal provision and other important issues highlighted in the documentary, what stands out the most, is the abusive behaviour of a Greek policeman toward an elderly refugee lady (Note by translator: which is shocking only to those who do not comprehend the role of the police within a capitalist society. )

This particular man appears to be insulting the refugee in the most obscenely manner by saying: “Go fuck yourself! Go fuck yourself! Get out of here! You shitty old woman! You lizard! I will put this (meaning her walking stick) in your ass, do you get that? Shitty old woman!”

The footage promted the Amnesty International to ask the Ministry of Citizen Protection in Greece to conduct an inquiry over the matter.

However, according to the tweet below, the Jury Administrative Assessment ordered by the chief of the police, means that the cop who abused the woman won’t go through trial but instead he will be assessed by a committee comprised by his coleagues.
