The Oxford Union debating society is playing host to Alice Weidel, the leader of the far-right Alternative für Deutschland party in the Bundestag
The AFD is a ultranationalist party in Germany who campaign on a hard-line Islamophobic and anti-migrant platform, vowing to ‘fight an invasion of foreigners’ and ‘stop Islamisation’
In August, high-profile members of the AFD marched alongside Pegida and neo-Nazis at the anti-migrant demonstrations in Chemnitz, where demonstrators gave Nazi salutes and assaulted migrants, leftist activists and a Jewish restaurant-owner
Fascism has never been defeated by debate – platforming the far right has always only enabled their resurgence
Opposing the far right means collectively organising to confront it in our spaces and in the streets
Join us outside the Union on November 7th to show that Oxford is anti-fascist and anti-racist!
November 7, 18:00 bis 22:00 UTC, Oxford Union, Oxford, UK.
