The Hague: 700 people on No Human Is Illegal demonstration

On Saturday November 3 700 people demonstrated under the slogan: ‘No Human Is Illegal’ in the center of The Hague, Netherlands. Refugees traveled to the demonstration from four state refugee lager, including many children from family locations.

500 people gathered at the Peace Palace. After a speech from Anti-Fascist Action (AFA), the group that organized the demonstration, people started marching. More people joined on the route so that the demonstration grew to 700 people. In the center there was another speech by Stop the War on Migrants about the militarization of the European borders and the companies that make profit with it.

At the final point at the Helena van Doeverenplantsoen, several children from AZCs (state refugee lagers in the Netherlands, EIE) gave emotional speeches about their situation. About the friends they made, about the lives they have build up here and what they want to become later. Someone of the campaign Geen Kind aan de Kant (No child sided, EIE) also spoke about situations in family locations and how migration policy has an impact on children.

We look back on a very good and successful demonstration. We want to thank everyone who came to the demonstration, in particular everyone who came from AZCs.The fight certainly does not stop after this demonstration. The struggle continues unabatedly. See you on the streets!
