Eight Pont Valley protectors appeared in Court and were found guilty for standing up against the coal industry and attempting to stop a new opencast coal mine from opening in the UK.

They have been charged with obstruction of the Highway or of police officers and have received fines of over £8200.
Over the last 6 months, protectors have occupied the site, taken a series of direct actions and are now prosecuting the coal company for wildlife crime.
Meanwhile, in this exceptionally harsh ruling, the judge made clear which side the legal system is on – protecting corporate profits over ecological and human health!
