German territory: Press release from 01.03.2019 on the occupation of the Eppenberg Forest.
Note: Enough 14 is not organizing any of these events, we are publishing this text for people across the US and Europe to be able to see what is going on and for documentation only.
The forest is occupied!
Since 15.02.2019 we, activists from the Hambach Forest, have occupied the Eppenberg Forest. This is to be deforested for an industrial area on an area of approx. 40 hectares. This, although there are already such areas with large unsold areas in the immediate vicinity.
It is incomprehensible to us how people continue to empower themselves to decide what happens to nature. And since nature cannot defend itself, we have decided to be its defense!
At a time of approaching climate catastrophe, we do not need further destruction of intact forests, we need a political system that stops subordinating nature to economic interests.
The aim of the occupation is therefore to open up a place of networking and exchange for the local resistance.
“We want to show alternative ways of life in order to motivate and support people to stand up against a system that exploits all our living space!” – Leony
The majority of the residents of the village of Eppenberg itself are against the planned construction.
And as has already been proven in Hauroth, they will not agree to such a project.
Also the people in Masburg who are against the destruction of the areas of their village are cordially invited.
