Will #Bernie’s Proposals Build Worker Power? Interview With a Swedish Labor Activist

Presidential candidate and open socialist Bernie Sanders announced this week that his campaign is preparing a proposal to encourage employee ownership in large companies. While details are yet to be released, what has been reported so far is the plan would have employers “contribute a portion of their stocks to a fund controlled by employees” that would pay dividends to workers. A second aspect of the proposal would potentially allow workers to become “a powerful voting shareholder” leading to the election of worker representatives on corporate boards. As well, version of this idea has been taken up by Jeremy Corbyn, the leftist leader of the UK Labour Party.

#Bern: “Pussy, pussy, son of a bitch?!” A critique about the behavior of some people during the night of rage

Bern, Swiss territory: It is nice to get on the police’s nerves, as on Saturday May 18 around the Reitschule (riding school) in Bern. To remind them that they are not welcome, that their violent and repressive work is not accepted and that we resist.

We think it’s shit that people are disrespectful and behaving like shot callers. Ordering others to take up a lot of space and ruthlessly shouting at uninvolved people is macker-ism. We think that’s shitty and it’s hard for us to fight together with such people. That is why we wrote this text.

June 15: International call to action – What’s Next in the #Unistoten Battle with Industry Giants

Canadian territory: The Unist’ot’en are counting on supporters to mobilize in a big way for the next step in our legal battle. From June 12-14, the BC Supreme Court will rule on the interim injunction. It will either be extended to an interlocutory injunction, giving a pass to more RCMP violence,  or dismissed, ending the human rights violations. But regardless of the outcome in the courts, it is not up to colonial government and industry giants to determine our fate. We remain unceded, undefeated, sovereign and victorious.
