Arson attack on self-managed house project in #Göttingen – Far right graffiti on university campus

Göttingen (German territory). In the night of October 27th to 28th, 2019 there was a fire in the garden of the Göttingen house project Goßlerstraße 17/17a. The clearly perceptible smell of fire accelerants and the far-right graffiti that appeared in the immediate vicinity suggest that the residents of the house were attacked by right-wing arsonists.

#Chile: “They stole so much from us, they even stole our fear”

Chile has experienced an unprecedented uprising in recent days. Starting with the increase in ticket prices for the metro, the uprising spread rapidly and targeted the entire system in a country that has been a laboratory for the toughest neoliberalism since the Pinochet coup in 1973 and where inequalities are among the most massive in the world. While the right-wing government declared a state of emergency and introduced a curfew, while the military patrolled the streets for the first time since the end of the dictatorship in 1990, we held a meeting with one of our companions in Chile to discuss the situation. He explains the challenges of the current social explosion, its composition, its fighting methods and its response to the parallel uprisings in South America.

Cape Town: 25 years of democracy has been paid in blood

South African territory; On October 24 S’bu Zikode spoke in parliament, in Cape Town, at the Constitutional Dialogue organised by the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), the National Foundations Dialogue Initiative (NFDI) and the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR) at an event organised to discuss how the key values under-pining the Constitution (human dignity, the achievement of equality, advancement of human rights and freedoms, non-racialism, and non-sexism) can be realised.

Other speakers included Professor Barney Pityana, a former leader of the Black Consciousness Movement, and Edwin Cameron, a former judge on the Constitutional Court.
