In the German city of Heilbronn, police forces raided the homes of administrators of Kurdistan Communities Federation (FCK) and Democratic Kurdish Community Centre at around 06:30 Wednesday morning.

Co-president Sait Öztürk, who was among those targeted in the operation, spoke to ANF and said that he saw police units outside his flat as he returned from work in the morning.

Öztürk said; “Dozens of police entered my flat as soon as I did. They searched my flat citing “PKK activities and association activities”.

Öztürk said the search in his flat, and the garden, continued till 10:45. He noted that his cell phone, computer, many books and documents of the Federation were seized by the police.

Öztürk added that the raid was grounded on some documents that had been seized during last year’s raid in the association.

Last year in June, German police had raided the Heilbronn Democratic Kurdish Community Centre (DTKM) and many other addresses, and detained six Kurdish youth. The Federation had harshly criticised the operation and called on the German government to stop cooperation with the Turkish state.

KON-MED condemned police raids on Kurdish institutions in Germany

KON-MED (Kurdistan Confederation of Communities ) condemned the operation carried out by German police.

During the operation police raided the home of the Kurdistan Communities Federation co-chair (FCK) Sait Ozturk and 5 other Kurdish executives as well as the Democratic Kurdish Community Center premises on Wednesday.

As well as Öztürk, raids were carried out in the houses of Gulistan Özdemir, Lokman Karaaslan, Rahime Ateş and Dikkat Revsi.

KON-MED said in a statement: “The German state raided the houses of Kurdish institutions and executives in what appeared to be an operation confirming the connection with the Turkish state.”

KON-MED added: “There is no justification for these raids. We want to state that we do not accept and condemn these raids on Kurdish people and institutions.”

The statement also confirmed that during the raids, carried out by dozens of policemen, offices “seized a large number of personal belongings. The policy of repression on Kurdish institutions will lead to an increase in the tension among the Kurdish people, who are already undergoing a sensitive process and is under attacks.”

The statement also said: “We, the Kurdish people, have established our associations in order to live our culture in Germany, to remember our history, to enlighten our society, to protect our dignity and not to be assimilated. Kurds have never given in to persecution. We call on all democratic people, beginning with the Kurdish people, to support Kurdish community centers.”
