Thessaloniki. Greek territory. On Tuesday the 3rd of December 2019 squatters in Thessaloniki sent their own message to the 15 days ultimatum issued by the Ministry of “Public Order” towards the dozens of political and refugee squats across Greece (some of them more than 30 years old) or face violent evictions by the riot police and police special forces.

The deadline ends on Thursday night 5th of December 2019, a political decision by the greek State aiming to agitate and create an “explosive atmosphere”, while the 6th of December is a day or remembrance for Alexis Grigoropoulos, a 15 years old boy that was murdered by policemen in the Exarcheia are of Athens back in 2008.
If the mass evictions are about to take place on the 5th of December, they will coincide with the dozens of protests across Greece that take place on that day against police brutality and political repression. As it happens no squats or self organized spaces in Greece have accepted the police ultimatum. Instead, we have witnessed moves like the one depicted in the video, where anarchists in Thessaloniki hanged a huge banner in solidarity to Squats from the top of Thessaloniki’s Worker’s Center, under the red light of flares that lighted the night, sending a message that this is not going to be an easy fight for the greek State and the greek police. The message on the banner by the “Mundo Nuevo” and “Libertatia” squats read “Repression will not get through – Everybody get out in the streets – Solidarity to Squats”. “Ten, a hundred, thousands of squats against a world of organized decay”
