Ocosingo, Chiapas: “Feel happy comapañeros because this is joy, this is happiness, because this event does not happen every instant, it is not in the newspaper, it is the time that marks the process of our walk, that teaches us what to do and how it must be done,” said members of the new Board of Good Governance (JBG), “New dawn in resistance and rebellion for life and humanity,” of the Zapatista caracol number X inaugurated on February 1 and 2, named: “Blooming the rebel seed,” located in the town of Patria Nueva, official municipality of Ocosingo.
“Today we had to witness this event. In other places also some witnessed another event like this. In other places there will also be the opening of other new caracoles; and thus, demonstrate that every instant, that every day, here we are, that we exist as a Zapatista army,” said the Chiapas rebels.
“As the basis of the EZLN, we are working on autonomy, and this is the creation of caracoles as will happen in other places and not only here. All the Zapatista peoples are celebrating, we are happy, we are celebrating this birth. Here will be the offices where the compañeros will be working during the next three years,” shared the indigenous that rose up in arms in 1994.
“Here it is like a new marriage that becomes independent from the parents, it is difficult to find the new house. It is difficult to get used to a new house when we are in the new marriage, which becomes independent from their parents; so many things are missing: the table, the chair, the dishes are missing,” exemplified the new JBG, in its inaugural message to the numerous Zapatista Support Bases, present in the new caracol.
On January 30 and 31, the inauguration of the Zapatista Caracol number VIII, named: “Resistance and rebellion of a new horizon,” whose JBG is: “The light that shines on the world,” based in Dolores Hidalgo, also took place in the official municipality of Ocosingo, Chiapas.
Militiawomen and militiamen also participated in the inaugurations, marching during the busy event. In the same way, sports activities were carried out and during the night and day there was also the presence of musical groups, as is customary in the celebrations of the Zapatistas. Members of the Clandestine Indigenous Committee, General Command of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation, were also witnesses of these events.
