Kids Know! Open the borders!
The children of the Housing Squat for Refugees/Migrants “Notara 26″ who have images of violence, persecution and danger engraved on in their young memories, and who have once again found their stolen childhood in the community of solidarity and coexistence that we have created have something to say. They want to share a truth that is buried under tons of lies and stereotypes: that on the other side of Evros (the Northern border between Greece and Turkey), on the other side of the Aegean Sea, there are no “intruders”, there are no “illegal people”. Life is never illegal.
There are children just like them who are in need of shelter, food, play, peace and protection. There are women and men who have the right to live away from wars, conflicts, authoritarianism and poverty. The children of Notara 26 are sad because yesterday a child was drowned in the Aegean Sea, as a result of the murderous policies of the Greek State and the European Union. Because now, thousands of children have been pushed into the dead zone of Evros and are exposed to the cold, violence, chemicals tear gas and depreciation. They are sending a message of solidarity to brighten their wild nights. They are asking to open the border now.
Let’s make the refugee’s Odyssey of survival, a journey of humanity towards freedom!
