German MEP for the Greens, Erik Marquardt tweeted last night: “On #Lesbos the community centre “One Happy Family” is now on fire. There, for example, a clinic and a school for children was operating.
A failure of the rule of law, a surrender of Europe to the fascists. How can we allow this to happen,
Marquardt still seems to believe that that there is something like a “rule of law”, although the situation on the Greek islands and the Turkish/Greek border in Evros, once again proof that there is no such thing as the rule of law in the European Union.
Apart from the fire at One Happy Family, Marquardt reported that cars were damaged and people of NGO’s were hunted on Lesvos yesterday.
The German YouTube channel released a video reporting that German fascists Oliver Flesch and Stefan Bauer (AFD) were seen near the burning One Happy Family centre.
The German facists were spotted near the fire fighters who were extinguishing the fire. Fascists are mobilizing across Europe to come to Greece for days now. The No Borders Network wrote on their Facebook page: “BREAKING One Happy Family building, a solidarity and support group for #refugeesgr near Kara Tepe is on fire.
Greek Goverment is responsible for allowing for a week now racist rats to attack and threaten refugees, solidarians and ngo workers in the islands.”
One Happy Family published a post on their Facebook page saying that:
Unfortunately there has been a fire on OHF ground this evening. The fire brigade and the police is there, our team on the ground as well. The fire has been put off, but the damage is big.
The school building is fully burned, some other smaller buildings too, our offices aswell. Noone got hurt, but we can’t say more at the moment.
We will keep you informed and updated as soon as we know more.
Thank you for your solidarity”
