Lesvos. Greece. March 24, 2020. At this moment, almost 20,000 refugees reside in Moria camp and just under 8,000 in Vathi, Samos. Living conditions in the congested camps are horrendous, with shortages of toilets, showers, running water and hygiene items making it virtually impossible to maintain a basic level of hygiene. The spread of COVID-19 amongst these already-vulnerable communities would be disastrous.

Our teams on the ground are doing their best to provide emergency relief, and we need your support now more than ever.
In the Olive Grove on Lesvos, we are transforming the Mandala children’s space into an emergency medical shelter. Construction has started, and upon completion will provide 20 rooms with a total of 80 beds to be used as a quarantine space in the event of an outbreak.
On Samos, our team is focusing on preparing the warehouse and creating hygiene packs to be distributed to families in Vathi camp. We are collaborating with other actors to find a way to ensure essential items can continue to be provided to residents of Vathi, and are currently seeking permission to reopen the Free Shop in the coming weeks.
We need your support to help continue these vital operations. Donate today and share our COVID-19 Emergency Response fundraising campaign by visiting:
