#France: an anti-squat amendment threatens untitled occupiers

France. The anti-squat amendment supported by the Government (Ministry of Housing) generalizing the administrative eviction (by decision of the prefect and without trial) of untitled occupants was adopted in the law committees of the National Assembly on Wednesday, September 16. This proposal is excessively dangerous, and the time frame is short, since the law in which the amendment will be inserted will be discussed in the National Assembly the week of September 28.

A video from the uprising in Kenosha, Wisconsin, shows police giving water to a group of armed white men. One officer uses his vehicle’s loudspeaker to tell them, “We appreciate you guys. We really do.” Soon thereafter, one of the group, 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse, shot three protesters, killing two.

A young writer’s memories of #Moria: My pen won’t break, but borders will

Are You Syrious gave space to the voice of a young girl from Afghanistan who speaks about her experiences. Parwana Amiri lived in Moria after reaching Lesvos in September 2019 together with her family. In the camp she had been writing about her experiences, often at night, when the other eight people she was sharing a tent with were asleep. Alarmphone has now published her first book. Moria might have burned down, but a new camp has been erected. So far there has been no change in European policy. As long as this is the case, the voices of brave people like Parwana need to be heard.

#COVID19 #Madrid: The neighborhood associations of #Villaverde, #Usera, #Vallecas and #Carabanchel rise up against the proposal of selective confinements

Madrid. Spain. The neighborhood associations of Carabanchel, Villaverde, Usera, Puente and Villa de Vallecas categorically rejected the proposal of selective confinement of their neighborhoods to stop the advance of Covid-19. About thirty of these groups, together with the FRAVM, made the “Manifesto for the Dignity of the South in the face of the second wave” public, a forceful writing that reviews a good part of the endemic problems and the abandonment of the Administration that these districts have suffered for decades and serves to confront the “stigmatization, exclusion and territorial discrimination”. We do not share everything in the following statement, even reject some parts (like the part about sharing a police station in Usera and Villaverde). Still we think its an important read about the growing resistance in Madrid against classist cofinement measures in the framework of COVID-19.
