Giorgio Agamben: Love has been abolished

A short poem by Giorgio Agamben.

Originally published by Quodlibet. Translated by Autonomies. Written by Giorgio Agamben.

Love has been abolished

Love has been abolished
in the name of health
then health will be abolished.

Freedom has been abolished
in the name of medicine
then medicine will be abolished.

God has been abolished
in the name of reason
then reason will be abolished.

Man has been abolished
in the name of life
then life will be abolished.

The truth has been abolished
in the name of information
but information will not be abolished.

The constitution was abolished
in the name of the emergency
but the emergency will not be abolished.

Giorgio Agamben
