Dannenrod. Germany. November 29. 2020. Since 08:30am this morning, 400 activists from the group “Aktion Schlagloch” (pothole action) have been blocking eviction and deforestation work in the Dannenrod forest in the German state of Hesse.
Submitted to Enough 14 in German. Translated by Enough 14.
Since the beginning of October, under the black-green state government, the forest for the construction of the Highway A49 is being deforested and the tree houses built by activists are being evicted with a major police operation. Aktion Schlagloch condemns the negligent actions of the Greens and the CDU and demands an immediate stop to deforestation as well as a socially just change of transportation systems.
In this context, Lola Löwenzahn, press spokeswoman of Aktion Schlagloch, explains:
“We are resisting the destructive policies of the Greens and the CDU, who are breaking water protection laws with the construction of the A49 highway and thus actively endangering our future. In the middle of the climate crisis we have to act now: In order to limit global warming to a maximum of 1.5 degrees, we must stop all highway projects immediately. What we need is a socially fair change in transport. Here at Danni, we are fighting together for a climate-justice future.”
