Revolt in Vila Cruzeiro, Brazil After Murder of Black Woman by Police

This time, in Porto Alegre, an elderly woman named JANE SILVA NUNES. She was killed after police entered her home without command and pushed her away. She hit her head and couldn’t resist.

The population of Vila Cruzeiro rose in revolt, setting cars on fire and confronting the police.


In the early afternoon, militants erected several barricades along Avenida Tronco, carrying banners and signs denouncing police violence.

This revolt follows the recent uprising following the murder of a black father of four named João Alberto Silveira Freitas by security guards at a Carrefour supermarket in Porto Algre.
