#Wuppertal, #Germany: Osterholz Remains vigil – Monday, February 15, from 08:00 a.m.

Wuppertal. Germany. The citizen initiative of local residents and supporters of the Osterholz forest, which is threatened from lodging, will organize a vigil tomorrow in solidarity with the forest squatters.

Originally publshed by Osterholz Bleibt (Osterholz Remains). Translated by Riot Turtle.

Over the weekend there were also increased activities of the police around the Osterholz forest. Be it with vehicles, a helicopter or a tour with many police officers last Thursday. Since a few weeks there is more and more police in and/or around the forest. The signs for a major police action in the near future are increasing. Unclear is also the state of affairs of the permit procedure of the Oetelshofen company with the district government. For weeks they have been stonewalling there. Also local residents, who filed an objection against the clearing of the next 5 hectares of forest, have not received any information from the district government for weeks. An additional administrative complaint has been submitted.

The Oetelshofen company is still determined to clear 5 hectares of forest in Osterholz. The police actions of the last days, could be the introduction to this very clearing action. We want to show solidarity with the forest occupation, who have been fighting since August 15, 2019 for the preservation of the forest and the many living species that have their home there. For us, too, clearing is absolutely unacceptable and a denial of the seriousness of the climate crisis. We want to protest against this again. This time with a vigil that will start on Monday February 15 at 08:00am. We want to start early in the morning, because we expect that a possible police action against the forest occupation will start very early.

The vigil will take place at the parking lot at Osterholzer Street, at the entrance to the Osterholz forest. You will find this parking lot coming from the direction of Wuppertal Vohwinkel, on the right side, directly after the forest entrance at the end of the forest.
