Solidarity from the squatted Osterholz forest in Wuppertal (Germany) with hunger striker Dimitris Koufontinas! Abolish prisons!
Today we hung up a banner in the squatted Osterholz forest in Wuppertal, Germany, in solidarity with hunger striker Dimitris Koufontinas. On January 8, 2021, Dimitris Koufontinas started a hunger strike after the ruling Nea Demokratia Mafia ignored their own laws and transferred Dimitris to an high security prison in Domokos. According to a new prison law that was made by the Nea Demokratia government themselves he should have been transferred to the Korydallos prison in Athens. Dimitris is only demanding to stop this violation of the law (4760/2020, article 3) so that he can return to the Korydalos prison.
Dimitris Koufontinas has been on hunger strike for 50 days and on thirst strike for the 5th day. Dimitris is now at the intensive care unit at Lamia hospital. His condition is deteriorating fast. He is a comrade who never regretted his revolutionary actions, and now is being punished by the greek state for sticking to his beliefs. The attitude of Dimitris has become a threat to the Nea Demokratia regime, which abused the COVID-19 pandemic to crush any kind of opposition. Anger is growing and the Greek state is terrified that it will lose control.
Solidarity demonstrations for Dimitris Koufontinas in the Greek territory were again and again attacked by cops. Many people got arrested and injured. Demonstrations against eductation reforms, which will introduce special police forces on the universities continue to grow, despite massive police violence in a time that Greek political and cultural elites are under pressure due to the Dimitris Lignadis paedophile scandal. Letting hunger striker Dimitris Koufontinas die, could be the perfect lightning rod for the ruling Mitsotakis gang.
Fulfill Koufontina’s demands – stop the murder!
Solidarity with Dimitris Koufontinas and the struggling movement in Greece and elsewhere!
