Chile: Interview about the hunger strike of political prisoners; anarchists, subversives, and from the revolt

Chile. Since March 22, a group of political prisoners, anarchists, subversives and from the revolt, started a hunger strike demanding to abolish Decree Law 321, which transforms into a “reward” very difficult to access, the old right of “parole”, and also demanding the release of Marcelo Villarroel, who has spent 25 years in various prisons. Regarding this new mobilization carried out from inside the prisons of democracy, Vamos Hacia La Vida talked with a spokesperson of the comrades.

It was May 25, 2020, police in Minneapolis, Minnesota had murdered George Floyd and thus provided the spark that started the largest proletarian movement in USA since late sixties. Movement that soon spread from the burning streets of Minneapolis to more than 2,000 cities and towns across the USA with as much as 26 million of participants and with ripple effects in many countries around the world, where the expressions of proletarian solidarity with the movement in USA organically merged with rage against local forms of misery that life in capitalist society brings.

This edition is based on a translation of the first version of this text in French, signed “Des Communeux and dated March 18th, 2011.

This translation was originally published in May 2013 on the Dialectical Delinquents’ blog.

Class War quickly corrected this translation and made the lay-out for publication as a booklet for the 150th anniversary of the “Paris Commune”.
