Dresden. Germany. Greeting words from Lina’s mother at the rally at the start of the trial on 08.09.2021 at the Dresden Higher Regional Court (OLG).
I am very happy that you are all here and show solidarity!
My daughter Lina has been in pre-trial detention for 10 months now and today the trial against her and three other people starts here at the OLG. In early 2020, the Saxon LKA initiated proceedings under paragraph 129, in which Lina and others are accused of founding and being members of a criminal organization. The aim is said to have been the planning and undertaking of actions against neo-Nazis.
Because the main accused is a woman, the media coverage is overflowing! I find the inciting, sexist and inhuman content of some media outlets outrageous. It reads: Lina, the beautiful slim student with blond hair, red fingernails and a short mini skirt… At the same time it reads: Lina, the leader of a highly organized left-wing gang of thugs, a terror cell…
I am angry and shocked about the criminalization of my daughter and how she is being portrayed as a terrorist. The pre-judgment is striking and from the beginning the presumption of innocence did not apply to Lina. The proceedings against Lina and others are intended to set a precedent and at the same time make an example: Whoever organizes against Nazis in Germany will be prosecuted and punished with all severity.
I consider this development to be very dangerous and it should be the endeavor of all of us to oppose the spreading racism with all our strength. This fascism, which – as the murders in Kassel, Hanau and Halle show – has reached a terrific dimension of violence.
To speak with Esther Bejarano: “I always say, resist the beginnings is no more. We are in the middle of the struggle against racism and fascism.”
I wish Lina and the other defendants much strength and confidence for the long trial. I thank you for your great support, your solidarity and for standing up together against racism and fascism.
