On political clowns and why we don’t need them [Osterholz Forest, Wuppertal, Germany]

Wuppertal. Germany. Black-Green (CDU and Greens) has reacted to the Osterholz court decision from the Higher Administrative Court in Münster. The CDU, the party for which one of the managing directors of the Oetelshofen lime works, Moritz Iseke, sat in the environmental committee of the city of Wuppertal until the last election (The thing to put the fox in charge of the henhouse), finds that after the court decision all must accept the further destruction of our livelihood. The Greens of Wuppertal seem to suffer from amnesia and state that forest protection unfortunately has no priority. Also the green mayor of Wuppertal, Uwe Schneidewind, has again and again the same memory gap in his announcements. Both forget again and again that the Wuppertal Greens were part of the majority in the Wuppertal City Council in 2019, which recommended the district government to uproot the Osterholz forest.

The local chief political clown, blathered on December 29, 2021, something about 100 jobs, and praised a company that wants to destroy parts of a healthy mixed forest for waste. Not that the 100 jobs are lost when their waste is stored elsewhere, but Uwe probably thought, let’s play that old record again, it’s almost New Year’s Eve and old chart hits with nonsense lyrics always do well. Interesting is that both the press release of the clowns of the wannabe environmental party (party slogan could be “We continue to do business as usual with a green coat”), as the babbling of Schneidewind on Faceook think that the legal way is now over. Although we do not believe in a (un)legal system that makes it possible to destroy our livelihood, we find it remarkable that they all apparently do not know that residents can also file a constitutional complaint, which one of the plaintiffs will do. This means that those who consider this (un)legal system more important than our livelihood, apparently do not know much about it. Also, it is very important to Uwe to appeal to protesters that the protests should be within the legal framework, so within the same framework, which considers it appropriate to destroy our livelihoods again and again. But well, Uwe is also a clown and he will probably have meant it satirically.

Day X

We do not know how this legal way of one of the local residents will turn out. We do not have much confidence, we do not really care about it. We are dealing with a (un)legal system, where interests of private companies have a higher priority than our livelihoods. This is not only the case in the Osterholz forest. What we do know is that we have to reckon with the fact that the murderous chainsaws of the Oetelshofen company can create facts at any time since 00:00 a.m. today. Maybe Schneidewind has the smart idea not to send riot police squads in the forest, maybe even no cops at all. But we do not rely on it either. After all, we’re dealing with a political clown who thinks that he can gloss over any anti-life nonsense with his Instagram livestreams and Facebook scribblings full of half-truths. In Osterholz we fight against the climate crisis and for free spaces. Free spaces where we build a new world, beyond the capitalist logic of destruction and without political clowns. Come to the Osterholz forest so that we can defend this small liberated area together.

Come to the Osterholz Bleibt (Stays) demonstration tomorrow, January 02, 2022, 02:00 p.m. (14.00). Station forecourt, train station Wuppertal-Vohwinkel (Germany).
