Wuppertal. Germany. A statement by “The ghosts they called” on the Osterholz forest. The attack against the Osterholz forest is imminent.
On January 10, about 10 cops, including some climbing cops, inspected the Osterholt forest. A reconnaissance mission in preparation for the eviction of the forest occupation and deforestation. Yesterday they came by helicopter. For about 20 minutes they circled low over the forest. The attack against life in the Osterholz forest is imminent.
We don’t know if the cops will come tomorrow. Maybe they will, or maybe they will try to wear us down by waiting a few more days. But we are determined, they will not wear us down. They don’t seem to realize that we will consider their possible attack as a declaration of war against life. A possible eviction and deforestation will be the starting point for an intensification of the struggle against the ongoing destruction of the planet.
Living in the occupation means not only to fight for the forest, but also to live in a free space. A space where people can live without the destructive patriarchal, authoritarian and capitalist order. We will also defend this free space.
We issue a final warning to those in power. Do not try to evict and uproot the Osterholz forest. Maybe those in charge don’t see it, but it is a red line. Do not cross the red line! If the masters of destruction should cross this line, there will be a clear answer. We will not only do everything in our power to defend the forest. We will take this struggle to the urban areas. We will continue this struggle on all levels.
If they succeed in evicting and uprooting the Osterholz forest, we will make sure that their days in power are numbered. An economic, legal and political system that wages war against our livelihoods will face stiff resistance.
We repeat: Do not cross that line! Osterholz stays!
