Anger in France is growing afterinvestigators stated that cops raped 22 year old Theo by accident. On saturday thousands of people gatherd to demand justice Theo in Bobigny, a suburb north of Paris. Clashes broke out and continued for about 8 hours. There were also reports from clashes in other suburbs in Paris. Activists mobilice for a huge demonstration for justice and dignity on March 19.
On Thursday evening four cops arrived at a housing estate in Aulnay-sous-Bois, north of Paris, where they began stopping youths and asked for their identy papers. During the police operation, a 22 year old man, Theo, was allegedly forced to the ground, beaten and raped with a police baton. On Saturday evening riots broke out in Aulnay-sous-Bois, clashes continued on Sunday and Monday.
Investigators stated Thursday that the cops who sodomized 22 year old Theo with a baton did so by chance, and that the incident doesn’t represent rape. Angry protestors clashed with police on Friday again, the 7th day of clashes in several French cities. In a live broadcasting on state tv “France 2” of French music awards “Victoires 2017” popstar Imany demanded justice for Theo and Adama. Adama died in police custody last year.
Over a hundred organisations from around the world, including a number of anarchist groups and British organisations, are backing the callout for a massive march in Paris to take place on March 19th against police brutality. Led by the families of people who have died at the hands of police and following on from weeks of protests and clashes in the streets, organisers say that, as the law is adapting to the needs of the police rather than the people, France’s working classes must assert dignity and unity. The main callout is translated below.
Last night people in several french cities took the streets again to protest against police violence and justice for Theo. Clashes were reported from Barbes, Rouen, Argenteuil and Menilmontant. It was the 13th night in a row that people protested against police violence in France. Theo was beaten and raped by cops in Aulnay Sous Bois on the second of February. There are calls for new demonstrations today. We publish an overview of protests that are announced for today and the coming days.
We reblog an article from March 7, 2015 about racism in France. We do not agree on everything in the article, but still think its an important article to understand a part of the context of the ongoing clashes in France. We don’t agree on using terms like “The French” or “French people”, we believe there is no such thing as “The French or “The Americans”.
I first came to France twelve years ago during my junior year abroad. I was the first person in my family to get a passport and I could barely contain my excitement. In the winter of 2003, two years beforethe riots that followed the untimely deaths of 15 year old Zyed Benna and 17 year old Bouna Traore, I landed in Paris bright-eyed and bushy tailed, armed with a very shaky grasp of French and a naive fascination with this beautiful country.
Image: Zyed Benna and Bouna Traoré, two teenagers who died on October 27th in 2005 after being chased by police officers.
About 5000 people protested against racism and police violence in downtown Paris earlier today. Clashes broke out after cops stopped a demo that wanted to leave the Place de Republique to march through the city center. French police took 13 people into custody in Paris today. There where similar demonstrations in Rennes, Marseille and other french cities.
Notes and an extract on the life of an under-researched figure of revolutionary Europe. There are many frustrating aspects of researching the lives of historic women revolutionaries. While many were extraordinary thinkers they were usually relegated to supporting roles, often through the outright sexism of male tastemakers, insidious “cultural standards” of the time which systematically

This month’s missive again concentrates on the worsening situation in the country as a result of resistance and refusal to follow public health guidelines mostly inspired by disinformation and partisan lies in response to the worsening Covid-19 pandemic. Boris Johnson has recently announced a 1.25% tax increase on national insurance in order to ‘help provide greater funding for health and social care.’ This specific increase is advertised as being ‘legally ring fenced’ and will only be allocated to health and social care.
