Events like May Day are a temperature check for the collective hive mind of the left reflecting on the year behind them. Because it is a tradition that skates back more than a hundred years, it rarely stands out as the most pressing of days, mainly because it is part of a regular organizing cycle. Good years or bad losses, May Day comes on the same day.
At the International Worker’s and Immigrants Rights Day march in Minneapolis, “security” (protest marshals, aka peace police) was provided by a variety of leftist organizations. Among them, the Anti-War Committee. During the march, a man in a black bomber jacket that said “Polizei” on the back and was wearing a black “Make America Great Again” hat. He and a friend with long brown hair, glasses, and a brown jacket, were taking pictures of people in the march and taunting them.
A family that lives in the Beach Flats led the march with a child’s sign proclaiming, “Fuera Trump! Viva La Raza! Viva Los Trabajadores!”
This years May Day demo was much bigger than in the previous years. According to the cops 30.000 people joined the demo, organising CGT stated that 80.000 people joined. At the front of the demo there was a black bloc with more than 1.000 people.
This year the 31th edition of the yearly autonomous May Day demonstration took place in Wuppertal, Germany. At the end of the demonstration the front group of the demo was kettled, a few people were detained and some were subject of police violence. The streetparty at Schusterplatz was also kettled for a while.
Thousands of workers, trade unionists and youth protested SF ICE and the ILWU shutdown the bay area ports. Rallies were held throughout San Francisco and other cities in the Bay area.

Today, the 30th of April we did a small action in front of the building at Marien street 41 to create awareness of the many empty buildings at the Ölberg district and the repression against self-organised housing projects. It was an action in front of the building. Still.
