Brussels: political appropriation with the agreement of occupation of the squat rue de Koninck

Belgium. The group, which had been squatting since March 2020 in a former printing shop at 44 rue Honoré Longtin in Jette, was threatened following last October’s eviction order. Launched in December, an occupation campaign led to the opening of several squats (L’Hospitalière in Saint-Gilles, the Citydev building, the Sleeping Beauty and the Opel Garage in Molenbeek) and the relocation of the inhabitants of the Jette squat to these new squats.

Brussels: Massive repression against demonstration against the class and racist judiciary

Brussels. Belgium. On Sunday, January 24, 2021, a rally was held on Albertine Square in Brussels to denounce racism and the class character of the Belgian justice system. A similar action had been banned by the Mayor of Brussels on December 5, 2020. Although this time the rally was not outright banned, it was not allowed either. The political authorities and the police were therefore free to repress the event whenever they felt like it.

#Brussels, #Belgium: Looting and fires at the end of the demo against police violence

Brussels. Belgium. Clashes erupted this Sunday, June 7 at the end of the afternoon in the Brussels district of Matonge, at the end of the march, which brought together nearly 10,000 people on Place Poelaert “against police violence against people of color and racism in general.” The demonstration took place in solidarity with the anti-police uprising in the US, sparked by the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
