Greece: Last night between 250 and 300 fascists attacked protesting refugees on Sappho square in Mytilini on Lesvos island. The attacks started around 08:00pm and lasted until 03:00am this morning. At 05:30am riot cops cleared Sappho square and arrested those who were attackes, not the attackers: 120 refugees and 2 people of the refugee solidarity movement.
After a series of difficulties and threats of postponement, the trial began regularly on Friday. Today the trial continues.
In July 2017 35 men were arrested on Lesvos, Greece. Documentary filmmaker Fridoon Joinda released a 28 minute long documentary about the case. “From what I understand, I was only arrested because I am a black man.” Didier Ndiay, Senegal.
Lesvos, Greece: Refugees spontaneously marched from the Moria refugee camp to Sappho square in Mytlini today, after a refugee almost died in the Moria refugee camp.
Vasilis Dimakis, the incarcerated student who is claiming the right to higher education, has been transferred to Korydallos Prison Hospital but refused to be examined. Since he is now on the 23d day of his hunger strike and aldready started a thirst strike, the doctor there predicted that serious health issues will appear soon and suggested Dimakis’ transfer to a proper hospital.
