Hambacher Forest: On 8/22 two humans and a dog tried to leave the meadow camp with a van to bring food to the external emergency kitchen (for the time of the evacuation and grubbing of the Hambach Forest). For one of the people around here, this equipped minibus is the only living space he has got.
Nine months without parole for UPIII arrested in the Hambach Forest four months ago, nine months sentence for another climate activist resisting fossil fuels as the fire storms break out across the world displacing hundreds of thousands and killing hundreds, nine months of injustice as now a global heatwave kills thousands more, breaking one all-time temperature record after another.
The message below is from Michael Zobel the forest guide whose support and attention to the Hambi struggle has become integral part of the occupation.
On 28.06.2018, the Hambach Forest between Cologne and Aachen was cleared of barricades. Some people from the movement would like to make a press statement.
Open letter in solidarity with ZAD, NDDL. This letter is only one from many…
Call by the Hambacher Forest defenders in so-called Germany: We fight back! Join the resistance!
UP III has been imprisoned for two months now on circumstantial evidence, the defense not being access to their files to be able to organize defense and call witnesses.
So-called Germany: UP III who was arrested during the Anti-Specist week continues to be detained as a flight risk, pending trial, with really shabby evidence against them which is being covered up by not giving defense access to it. Their mail is being severely cut off with UP III only receiving 2 letters after a month and a half of imprisonment with at least 50 having been sent. There is no legal ground for withholding the mail all together so instead it is being send for translation, then forwarded to a Aachen districts court from Cologne for approval, resend back to persecution and only then forwarded back to jail. This delay could take as long as two months altogether with mail being “lost” at any point in this biurocratic chain isolation and psychological repression.
Today (Sunday May 13) despite the rainy weather over 100 people showed up for the Forest walk with the youngest person being 3 months and the oldest being 80 years old. Also despite the gloomy weather and even gloomier reality of RWE’s giant diggers and their climate killing effect, the atmosphere was very upbeat with visitors and supporters expressing their appreciation for the Hambi struggle.
Celebrating 40 years of resistance to Lignite Mining in Rhineland the previous Sunday a “Rainbow Action” took place in the forest. Starting with hundreds of bicyclist converging from both Cologne and Aachen bringing back a cheerful, colorful and busy feeling breaking the Forest monotony of constantly anticipating and dreading large police actions and evictions. Anticipating or denying which has turned into such an art and sport in Hambi that perhaps bets should be taken with the winner who gets the date of next police action right getting as a reward a police baton or helmet from past actions that can be found at ZAD or at many infoshops. Those not guessing right or not knowing would and will be hit with hundreds more batons, sprayed in the face with pepper spray during those more unwelcome visits that could happen today, tomorrow or day after and which more and more resemble large scale military maneuvers and exercises.
