#Coronavirus, #Italy: protests and strikes in detention centres for migrants

There are still 381 people locked up in CPRs in Italy, 33 women and 348 men, according to an update issued on 24th March by the National Guarantor for persons deprived of freedom. In spite of the fact that a pandemic is upturning the world, no measures have been taken by the authorities to ward off the risk of the epidemic spreading like wildfire in the restricted cells that people are crammed into in the CPRs, just as in the prisons on the other hand.

Italian territory: Updates about the situation of Divine

On July 19th, 2019, at the end of the hearing at the CPR [prison for migrants and people without documents] of Bari, the judge didn’t validate the request for detention at the Bari lager, the reasons for the detention were not deemed sufficient.  Once left the worst migrant prison in Italy, the procedure following the suspension of the expulsion issued by the European Court of Human Rights went ahead, the Ministry of the Interior handed over the memoirs to justify the expulsion and the defense of Divine by August 19th will deliver its motivations to Strasbourg.
