Victory! #J20 Prosecutions Crumble: Down with the Courts, Up with Militant Defiance

Defendants in the J20 case and their supporters are elated to announce that the US Attorney’s office is dismissing the remaining 39 J20 cases! We fought these charges through solidarity and daily effort, with countless hours of logistical, legal, political, and emotional support. We know this victory isn’t a matter of “justice being served”, but rather the state conserving its resources and adjusting tactics in the face of our continued resistance.

#DefendJ20: Prosecutors Illegally Withheld Evidence From #J20 Trump Inauguration Protesters

Washington, DC – The United States government has officially been put “on notice” for violating the constitutional rights of anti-Trump protesters. While the second trial of people mass-arrested at an “anti-capitalist, antifascist” protest march during President Trump’s inauguration in DC began last week, hearings for other protest trial groups have also been underway. At a trial readiness hearing today for the June 4 trial group, DC Superior Court Chief Judge Robert Morin delivered a major blow to the prosecution’s case, officially ruling that the US Attorney had illegally withheld evidence from protester defendants.

Six inauguration day defendants move for sanctions against a federal prosecutor and dismissal of their charges.

Freedom for #J20 Defendants: Call to Action

Call to support the J 20 defendants: “To vanquish the J20 prosecution is to help topple the AmericanState, by attacking them at a point where they are weak. Where we
exploit the State’s weakness, we show our strength.  And the strength of
all revolutionary struggle and every liberatory movement. (…) We are calling for an unrelenting, diffuse, solidarity campaign until our comrades are entirely released from their present repressive situation. For an up-tick of visibility to pervade our movements worldwide, and for concentrated actions in the days ahead of the May 14th trial, and then more one or two weeks ahead of each subsequent trial if the trials persist. “

“Drop the Charges!”: Friday, May 11th Join Chelsea Manning and Former Defendants in DC!

On January 20th, 2017, hundreds of people were mass arrested while protesting Trump’s inauguration. The State then proceeded to blanket charge everyone arrested with “conspiracy” and multiple other felonies – seeking to lock them away for upwards of 80 years. The first 6 people faced trial in November, but were acquitted on all charges after the State failed to convince a jury of their guilt. Following this defeat, the US Attorney announced in January that it was dismissing charges against 129 defendants in order to focus resources on 59 people against whom they claim to have a stronger case.
