Collectives prepare for historical visit of Zapatista movement in Madrid

On February 2, 2001, a march called La Marcha del Color de la Tierra set out from Chiapas, Mexico. On March 11 after thousands of kilometers it arrived to the capital Mexico City. The mobilization of the  Zapatista delegation proved symbolic and had a strong resonance with a whole generation of social movements throughout Europe. After two decades, another historic event will take place. Several Zapatista delegations will visit the European continent in July, August and September. In Madrid and other territories, different social movements are already preparing for the meeting.

Madrid: A huge snowbattle and police charges [Video]

Madrid. January 9. 2021. Amazing images last night (January 9, 2021) in Madrid. There was a lot of snow in the Spanish capital, which was covered with a thick white blanket as is rarely the case. People took to the streets, and soon huge snowfights took place in the downtown area. The city became a big playground, and joy invaded the streets after a long period of gloom.

#COVID19 #Madrid: The neighborhood associations of #Villaverde, #Usera, #Vallecas and #Carabanchel rise up against the proposal of selective confinements

Madrid. Spain. The neighborhood associations of Carabanchel, Villaverde, Usera, Puente and Villa de Vallecas categorically rejected the proposal of selective confinement of their neighborhoods to stop the advance of Covid-19. About thirty of these groups, together with the FRAVM, made the “Manifesto for the Dignity of the South in the face of the second wave” public, a forceful writing that reviews a good part of the endemic problems and the abandonment of the Administration that these districts have suffered for decades and serves to confront the “stigmatization, exclusion and territorial discrimination”. We do not share everything in the following statement, even reject some parts (like the part about sharing a police station in Usera and Villaverde). Still we think its an important read about the growing resistance in Madrid against classist cofinement measures in the framework of COVID-19.

#Madrid: First attempt to evict the #AteneoLibertario in #Vallekas stopped. The struggle continues

Madrid. On September 16, it was again made clear that solidarity and direct action are the best weapon we have as a means of defense against the state and repression. About 150 people from Vallekas and other neighborhoods of the city gathered at the door of the Ateneo Libertario de Vallekas to prevent the eviction of the space. This is not just the eviction of a space, it is the defense of squatting as a tool of struggle in the social war, as a tool to create with our own hands, outside of parties and institutions, spaces of struggle, meeting and learning.
