Colonialism of the twenty-first century [Kazakhstan]

Kazakhstan. It has only been a few days since the start of the protests in Kazakhstan. The determination of the demonstrators quickly turned the protests into a full-fledged revolution against the Nazarbayev/Tokayev regime. Seizures of administrative buildings, strikes and marches swept across the country, and by the evening of January 5, Almaty was completely free of the ruling elite’s.

Blood on your hands – Regarding information about torture of anarcho-partisans [Belarus]

Belarus. Today the sister of anarchist Dmitry Dubovsky published a short story after visiting the activist in the prison. The story is about the torture of the partizans in the first days after the detention: the pigs cut the skin off Igor Olynevich’s feet, Dubovsky was strangled with a plastic bag and hung up in a so called “swallow”. Previously, it was already reported that Sergei Romanov cut open his veins because of beatings by border guards.

Sasha Kozlyanko – soul and conscience of Brest anarchism [Belarus]

Belarus. I met Alexander Kozlyanko in the summer of 2002, long before anarchism started to show its grin in Belarus. At that time Brest guys had their own group of friends in Kavala (well known residential area of Brest – Kovalyovka), to which I “joined”, being a frequent visitor in this nice western Belarusian city. I can say with confidence that that group, and Sasha in particular, were at the origins of Brest anarchism. While most of the guys, with whom we drank beer together, discussed music and books, played soccer, simply dissolved in the everyday life of Belarus, Sanya, overcoming subculture, remained in the movement. And he did not just stay in Belarussian anarchism, but, it seems to me, by undergoing a rapid evolution, became its important component.

Belarus: There has never been anything like this and here we are again – To the question of the violence of the Belarusian State till 2020

Belarus. Now we have a situation in which some of Lukashenko’s supporters who swapped to opposition are trying to prove that violence from the regime is something new and unexpected. They say that no one in the Interior Ministry had ever used violence before, and that Belarus had had a state based on the rule of law until 2020. In an attempt to create a new history, a separate reality is formed, which absolutely denies the experience of both those who have experienced violence by the Belarusian state and those who have directly used violence against the population.

News from Belarus hardly make headlines of the english speaking media and if something comes it is mostly about some new crazy move of dictator Lukashenko. #Belarus: against capitalism and dictatorship, for internationalist solidarity

The Commission of Relations of the International of Anarchist Federations (CRIFA) expresses its support and internationalist solidarity with the struggles of people in Belarus against Alexander Lukashenko’s dictatorship, a mass movement that is participated in by our anarchist comrades there. The situation in Belarus concerns the autocratic dictatorship that has lasted for 26 years, the current economic, health and public services crises. A wave of protests have filled the squares of the country to request the dictator’s withdrawal. As anarchists, we are not empassioned by the debate on whether the last presidential elections were fair or not. It is simply clear that the people in Belarus are saying ‘enough is enough’: they do no longer want a government which is starving, beating and oppressing them.

Proposal of program-minimum for the period of uprising in #Belarus

Belarus. Throughout the Soviet and Lukashenko propaganda, many may think that anarchists in Belarus are barricades and clashes with OMON. But anarchism is much more than that. Somewhere behind the scenes, there is an idea that people can live with dignity and without a dictator and Bolsheviks.
