The State of Health Emergency in #France: Social Order, Whatever it Costs

Since March an arsenal of measures has been deployed in France to stop the spread of covid-19. Far from being limited to the medical field, these measures imply profound changes in the functioning of state institutions, particularly the judiciary. The state of health emergency establishes an authoritarian State, destroys the rights of the defence and exacerbates the security-based reflex. In this context, collective defence groups and legal teams remain active during the lockdown so as not to leave anyone face the police and the judicial system alone.

#Belgium – Riot in #Anderlecht, #Brussels after a youth was killed

Enraged youth from the Anderlecht area of the capital city Brussels, Belgium rioted yesterday, attacking cop vehicles and hurled missiles at the cops, injuring one and beating up another. The riot was triggered when a cop patrol pursued a 19 year old on a scooter because he refused to stop for a curfew check. He hit an oncoming cop vehicle head on and died on the spot. Hundreds of angry youth from the local area instantly took to the street after a callout on social media attacking the cops who had arrived to reinforce those involved in the killing. Several cop vehicles were set on fire, one youth liberated a gun from a vehicle, shooting it in the air as he ran off.

Pandemic War Diaries – The Blow from the Butterfly

Sebastian Lotzer

“Yet it is all too obvious that in today’s world it is information that defines what exists. Literally, only what is reported in the media actually exists. This point of view proves those right who say that turning off the TV would be enough to stop the spread of the epidemic.”

Rebellion in times of the #curfew

We are in a situation that is absolutely new to us. Our freedoms are reduced to a minimum, similar to wartimes or imprisonment. Only this time the “enemy” is invisible and our prison is our home. Catastrophes, state of emergency, curfew, pandemic, media bombardment, panic, insecurity and isolation … It’s not about minimizing or assessing the deadly consequences of the coronavirus – on a medical level I cannot judge this. But I want to formulate a critique of the authoritarian formation taking place, i.e. the state of war declared by the state and the consequences this has for us and society. While every bill and every restriction is waved through with reference to the relevant experts and no one can predict what the situation might look like in a week, we don’t need experts to know that in times of crisis and war the state of emergency becomes the normality way too fast (you remember the “war on terror” or the “refugee crisis”?)

Italy, April 3, 2020. It’s late. The lights in the houses are breaking the night’s darkness tonight more than usual. A few windows are open, many shutters are up, it’s strange to see the city so empty and silent.

April 25: Proposal for liberation

Italy, April 3, 2020. For a few weeks now, almost three billion people have been forced into house arrest. In Italy, as in other parts of the world, the first people who rebelled against the worsening of their conditions to survive, the people in prison, have been repressed with deaths and injuries.
